Multi Crore Cattle Smuggling Case Transferred To Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court

The Special CBI Court of Asansol has recently approved the ED’s request to transfer the alleged multi-crore cattle smuggling case to Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court.

Justice Rajesh Chakraborty passed an order in this regard, which stated that on the basis of the 2005 gazette notification, the matter was being referred to the PMLA court at Rouse Avenue court.

Later, the ED’s lawyer, Abhijeet Bhadra, briefed reporters, “Today, I handed over the gazette notification of 2005 to the court. It stated that all powers in the Prevention of Money Laundering Act are being given to the ED.”

Earlier, on August 19 and September 2, the case was heard in the court of special CBI judge, Justice Rajesh Chakraborty in Asansol.

On July 28, ED filed a request under Section 44(1/c) for transferring case to the CBI special court in Asansol.

The president of the ruling Trinamool Congress in Birbhum district, said to be a close aide of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Anubrata Mondal who the CBI arrested in connection with the case in July last year.

He was arrested by ED after being questioned inside the Asansol jail where he was lodged at the time.

Anubrata, his daughter Sukanya, former bodyguards Sehgal, and Enamul Haque and BSF commandant Satish Kumar, got arrested by the CBI & ED in connection with the case, are currently lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail.

The TMC’s Birbhum chief was arrested by ED on April 26.
