Sex Abuse Case: Bengaluru Court Denies Bail to Prajwal Revanna

Sex Abuse Case

A Bengaluru Court on Wednesday denied bail to former Janata Dal (Secular) MP Prajwal Revanna, who is accused in multiple cases of rape and sexual harassment.

Revanna is currently under custody of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) assigned to investigate the alleged sexual offenses.

On Tuesday, another FIR has been filed against the former MP, alleging sexual harassment, stalking, and criminal intimidation.

Alongside him, three others, including former BJP MLA from Hassan Preetham Gowda, have also been implicated in the FIR for allegedly disseminating images taken by Prajwal during the victim’s sexual harassment via video call, as per sources.

Prajwal Revanna, grandson of JD(S) leader and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, recently lost his bid to retain the Hassan parliamentary constituency. He was arrested by SIT officials on May 31 immediately upon his arrival at Bengaluru Airport from Germany. Revanna had departed for Germany on April 27, a day after the Hassan Lok Sabha polls.

Before his arrest, Interpol issued a ‘Blue Corner Notice’ at the request of SIT through the Central Bureau of Investigation to locate Revanna. A Special Court for Elected Representatives had earlier issued an arrest warrant against him on May 18 following an application by the SIT.

Prajwal Revanna faces charges in three cases of sexual assault, including rape. The allegations surfaced after pen drives containing explicit videos purportedly involving Revanna were circulated in Hassan prior to the Lok Sabha polls on April 26.
