Supreme Court Dismisses Petition Seeking Registration of FIR Against Yogi Adityanath

The Supreme Court on Monday refused to hear a plea filed against the Uttar Pradesh Chief minister Yogi Adityanath seeking to register a case against him in alleged hate speech during an election campaign in Alwar, Rajasthan. Such litigations are only for page 1 of newspapers, the top court said

A bench of Justices BR Gavai and Vikram Nath while dismissed the petition stated that it was not inclined to interfere with reference to this matter.

The Supreme court was hearing a plea filed against the Allahabad High Court. Earlier The Allahabad High Court had dismissed the plea and imposed cost of Rs 5000, on the petitioner.

The petitioner Naval Kishor Sharma resident of Mau district claimed that Yogi Adityanath hurt his religious sentiments in an election speech in Alwar on November 23, 2018. Before moving to the court, petitioner had filed a complaint in contrast to the speech in the district court of Mau, that later got dismissed. Then he filed plea before the Allahabad High Court, which was also dismissed on the grounds of territorial jurisdiction and court also imposed coast of Rs 5000 on him.
