Defamation Case: SC Rejects AAP Leader Sanjay Singh’s Plea Challenging Gujarat HC Order

Sanjay Singh

The Supreme Court on Monday rejected a plea filed by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh.

The plea aimed to challenge an order from the Gujarat High Court, which declined to annul summons issued against him in a defamation case.

The case pertains to alleged comments made by Singh regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s educational qualification.

A bench of Justices BR Gavai and Sandeep Medta stated, “We are not inclined to entertain the present petition.”

The bench stated that the high court had already noted in its order that all contentions available to the parties remained open, and the trial judge would not be swayed by any remarks made in the order.

On February 16, the high court dismissed pleas by Sanjay Singh and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, seeking to quash the summons issued against them in the defamation case.

Both the AAP Leaders had challenged the summons issued by a trial court in the case filed by the Gujarat University and the subsequent order of the sessions court rejecting their revision applications against the summons.
