Sutlej-Yamuna Link Dispute: SC To Hear The Case On March 15

The Supreme court on Thursday adjourned the hearing on Sutlej Yamuna link dispute case to March 15. The hearing has been postponed due to non-availability of Attorney General R Venkataramani.

During the hearing Haryana government’s advocate told the bench that following the directions of the this Court, two rounds of meetings have already taken place between the Chief Ministers of the two states (Punjab and Haryana), but no result has come out of it.

Punjab and Haryana have been at loggerheads for decades over the SYL canal. In this project, 214 km long canal is to be built, out of which 122 km is part of Punjab and 92 km comes in Haryana. Haryana has completed its part but Punjab started the canal construction in the year 1982 but later stopped the work.
