Physical Filing Is No Longer Compulsory In NCLAT Since E-Filing System Is In Place

The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) recently announced that physical filing of pleadings (appeals, interlocutory applications, reply and rejoinder) was no longer required.

The order specified that since January 4, 2021, pleadings have been filed through an e-filing system.

As a result, the filing of hard copies was no longer mandatory from May 15, 2023.

“From January 4, 2021, appeals, interlocutory applications, reply, rejoinder, etc are being e-filed in NCLAT via the e-filing portal. The competent authority has also directed that the filing of hard copies of appeals, interlocutory applications, replies, rejoinders, etc shall not be mandatory with immediate effect,” the ruling added.

The order was issued by NCLAT Chairperson Justice Ashok Bhushan which will take effect from May 15, 2023.
